Below are the benefits of creative writing which come through the process of writing rather than the end result.
  • encourages critical thinking
  • generates new ideas
  • enhances communication skills
  • nurtures creativity a key requirement for innovation
  • encourages self reflection

  • validates experiences, of self and others, through stories
  • helps organise thoughts and feelings

How fiction can help us better understand our reality

Christian Wickert

Wickert believes writing fiction can sharpen your perceptions, help you understand others' motivations and ultimately make you better at your job.

In his TED talk, he explains three ways creative writing improved his business skills and positively impacted his career.
We are what we write
Harry Shum

This article explores the importance of regular writing practice to help us think deeply, articulate our thinking and inspire others with our words, particularly within the business world.

Microsoft's Shum writes, '
Ultimately, writing helps make you successful. You might be the smartest person with the best idea, but if you can’t communicate your thinking in a compelling way, you won’t get far. '
